Basics of the Zigbee protocol.
The Zigbee protocol operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency, which propagates well in buildings
Zigbee connectivity is MESH connectivity, which means that each Zigbee Router device acts as a relay for other devices. If a remote sensor does ot have communication with the ZigBee Gateway, it is sufficient that it has radio communication with another ZigBee Router device in the etwork that has communication with the gateway. The devices work in a mesh chain of connections, which ensures reliability and certainty of the connection.
Zigbee devices and sensors consume very little energy, which gives a long battery life.
Devices using the Zigbee protocol connect to the control panel in 0.2 seconds when the status changes. Wifi devices take about 5 seconds to connect to the Wifi etwork after a state change. ZigBee devices have a huge advantage when it comes to automating smart rules.
SoMost of the configured automation of ZigBee devices is performed on the local gateway. Not in the Cloud. Typical rule > If motion is detected (PIR sensor), turn on the light. This execution time is approximately 0.5 seconds.
